Rafael Fernandez, CSP, ARM

Director of Claims and Loss Control

Rafael Fernandez is the Director of Loss Control & Claims for Cavignac & Associates. He graduated from Pitzer College in Claremont, California with a BA in Psychology, earned a MA in Public Administration from California State University San Bernardino and earned a certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Management from California State University, Long Beach. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a certified OSHA Outreach Trainer for general industry and construction, holds an EM 385 certification and is a professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.Prior to joining Cavignac & Associates, Rafael served as vice president and senior consultant for Marsh Risk Consulting in San Diego, where he provided safety and risk management consulting services to a broad spectrum of national clients. He was the designated risk control construction leader for the company’s West Zone operations, and oversaw safety services delivery and program effectiveness.In his role at Cavignac & Associates, Rafael is responsible for evaluating clients’ existing risk management, safety and claims management programs, and developing new strategies that will help them lower their overall cost of risk. He brings 20 years of experience in risk management, safety and construction to his position at Cavignac & Associates.

Born in Cuba and raised in Southern California, Fernandez currently resides in the College area of San Diego with his wife and two children. In his free time he enjoys offshore fishing, camping, playing ice hockey, and spending time with his family.
