The anticipated maximum property fire loss that could result, given unusual or the worst circumstances with respect to the non-functioning of protective features (e.g., firewalls, sprinklers, and a responsive fire department, among others), as opposed to probable maximum loss (PML), which is a similar valuation, but which is made under the assumption that such protective features function normally.
