Welcome to another addition of “Coversations with…” where we discuss with our colleagues about their career and life outside of work. In this episode, we chatted with Paul Broussard to learn more about his life outside of work and to gain some insight into how he has grown in his career over the years.

What is one thing people would not know about you by just meeting you or looking at your resume?

I enjoy woodworking and home projects—I wish I had more time and money to complete all the ideas I have in my head about improving our house. While it can be frustrating at times when designing the perfect custom improvement, it is very calming to me when working with power tools to build something. The feeling after a long days work where you get to use something that you built and are proud of is so satisfying.

What part of your career has challenged you the most?

That would probably be learning to say no—I’m a people pleaser and I want to help everyone. I can still help people by pointing them in the right direction, but I’ve had to learn not to take on every business/challenge I come across. It will probably be something that I will always have to work on in my career.

If you could pick any job in the world, money is not an object, what would it be?

Probably a professional golfer—I love to compete on the golf course and really any sport for that matter.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I enjoy playing just about any sport, especially golf. I enjoy spending time with my wife and two boys and I hope that they will enjoy golf too when they get older so we can make memories on the golf course.

What do you look forward to in 2023, both personally and professionally?

Hopefully I will finally make the leap and invest in my first real estate income property in 2023—I have read many books and listened to many podcasts about the long-term benefits of owning real estate. While I know timing the market and finding the perfect property is easier in retrospect, everything I’ve read is that you just have to make an educated decision, get in it, and learn as you go, which I’m excited about.

As for the professional growth, I hope to become more systematic in my work to manage my time effectively and efficiently so that I can give more of my time to my clients when they need it.
